What is the difference between "soft terry", "ponte", and "cotton" knit? Which of the three is the heaviest and has the least amount of stretch. I have tried the "ponte" in the past and have found them to be huge in size when compared to something like one of you linen pants in the same size.
This is Sara from J.Jill. Thank you for your question!
Our Pure Jill Full-Leg Knit Crops are made from a soft French terry fabric. This is a circular knit fabric with a flat appearance on the front side and soft loops on the back side. Our Ponte knit fabric is a soft, durable double-knit blend that is a stable, forgiving and non-clinging fabric.
This versatile fabric provides extra comfort and coverage. We offer many different cotton knit fabrics, and there isn’t an overall description of these fabrics as they can be quite different.
The fabric itself, French terry, Ponte or simple cotton knit, doesn’t impact fit. That is determined by the style of the individual item. We feel that our ponte fabric is a bit heavier than our French terry and also a bit dressier in appearance. Both feature stretch and a comfortable fit.
